About
Taking a new look at moringa
Imagine a product that is still discreet, almost confidential, but carries immense potential. Imagine a local plant that we bring out of the shadows to finally give it the place it deserves. This is exactly the intention of Artisan Moringa: to take moringa, a Mauritian treasure, and bring it into a new dimension, more noble, more elegant, more contemporary.
Artisan Moringa aims to magnify this everyday product in all its generosity: to offer it an identity worthy of exceptional products. To make it a reference, a ritual, a refined habit.
In this, the ambition of Artisan Moringa aligns with that of the great icons of well-being: to create a product that is immediately recognisable, which combines pleasure, quality, and beauty.
With Artisan Moringa, moringa becomes more than an ingredient. It becomes a signature.
Our story
Moringa and us, it is first and foremost a beautiful story.
Exactly ten years ago, the family team of what was not yet Artisan Moringa decided to plant nearly a thousand moringa trees in Bois Chéri.
Nearly ten years ago, Sébastien had the idea of a premium moringa in the form of boxes, with leaves hand-picked and dried in the purest peasant tradition of Mauritius.
This beginning of the adventure was fraught with challenges: moringa was not then a very prominent product and only one local producer engaged in transformation in the form of infusion (now the dominant producer) had taken this innovative bet.
Rooted in the short supply chain of the South-East of the island, the idea would germinate until it matured into a more developed project, years later.
The objective remains the same: in Mauritius, produce locally, transform locally, consume locally.
Artisan Moringa, today
And here it goes.
After almost a decade abroad, back in the country, Sébastien partners with Ian, a consultant in agroecology and forest restoration with several years of experience in the local territory.
Born from a family initiative, Artisan Moringa quickly became the catalyst for a team of motivated and committed actors, mainly based in the south-east of the island.
Sébastien and Ian now propose to design moringa as a typically Mauritian product, with high added value, aimed at coffee shops, concept stores, delicatessens, specialty shops and local businesses.
